A church committed to reaching our community for Jesus Christ and building passionate disciples

Pray for Nepal

The death toll in Nepal’s earthquake could reach 10,000, Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has said, with many more thousands of families displaced from their homes.

Our team on the ground in Nepal is reporting that at least 26 of our TTI families and churches have been affected, buildings destroyed, people without shelter, with the damages reaching well into areas of our partner churches in Northern India.

David Nelms, with Converge and President of The Timothy Initiative, is asking us to pray that the church in Nepal would grow in the wake of this tragedy. Pray that this heartbreak would lead to people engaging with a God who loves and cares for them, and hear about the hope that is ours in Jesus Christ.

In addition to praying, we want to do what we can to help to meet the physical needs. Funds have already been sent to purchase food, water and tents. More is needed. Folks whose homes have been destroyed need temporary housing.

If you would like to contribute to relief efforts, please click here. Anything you can do to help will make a difference for these folks who have lost so much.

We serve a God who brings beauty from ashes. Let’s pray Isaiah 61:3 for the people of Nepal:

“and provide for those who grieve in Zion– to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.”
