A church committed to reaching our community for Jesus Christ and building passionate disciples

Pastoral Search Update: 8/7/19

Because we confess that the discovery of God’s will in the calling of our pastor is a spiritual process that requires sifting through personal preferences, differences of opinion, conflicting information and confusing circumstances, so we can hear the voice of the Lord; And because our goal is that both the search process and outcome will be God-directed, God-empowered, and God-anointed: We solemnly covenant together before the Lord and our congregation to be persevering in prayer.

The excerpt above comes directly out of the covenant that the search team signed at the beginning of this process. We want to simply say THANK YOU to the many people who have been faithfully praying! We have felt encouraged personally, and we know that God works through our prayers. Every single prayer matters — it is eternity-changing for us, for our church body, and for others (1 John 5, and many other references). Thank you for lifting up our church, the staff, the candidates and the search team!

We are seeing a prayer movement gaining momentum within our body as more and more people have indicated their commitment to pray each week:

  • Sunday: 25 people
  • Monday: 21 people
  • Tuesday: 12 people
  • Wednesday: 20 people
  • Thursday: 19 people
  • Friday: 17 people
  • Saturday: 13 people

Because prayer is so central not only to the search process, but also to the overall health of our body, we are asking you to consider recruiting those in your sphere of influence to pray. Would you be willing to forward this email to your friends and people in your small group, inviting them to sign up to pray weekly as we move through this season? They can sign up to receive emailed updates from the search team and/or indicate their commitment to pray weekly by clicking the link at the bottom of this email.

Additionally, there will be a church-wide prayer gathering on Tuesday, August 20, at 7pm in the front theater. Prayer for the pastoral search will be one of many items lifted in prayer. Mark your calendars and invite your friends to join us in this sweet time of seeking the Lord as individuals and as a united body.

We are so thankful for each of you and thank our Lord and Savior for your willingness to prayerfully engage in this exciting season of ministry!
