We are so delighted that you desire to learn more of what the Bible teaches about baptism and what it means to follow the example of Jesus. Baptism is a formal decision to publicly identify with Jesus Christ. The baptism process at Springbrook involves sharing a creditable testimony of faith in Jesus Christ (your faith story) and a desire to publicly identify with Him by baptism through immersion.

Our baptism services are scheduled throughout the year during our normal weekend services, with attending a baptism class or orientation as the only prerequisite. If you are interested in learning more about baptism and when the next baptism will take place at Springbrook, please provide your information below.

What does the Bible say about Baptism?
Every person who has made a decision to believe and trust in Christ should be baptized.

When a person has personally trusted in Jesus Christ and has a clear understanding of the Biblical instructions found in scripture they should publicly declare their faith through baptism. Baptism occurs soon, if not almost immediately after those involved become believers.

“Those who accepted his message were baptized … that day. ”
–Acts 2:41

Baptism does not save us from our sin, but it is symbolic of our new life in Christ and of our union with Christ. We are to be baptized:

  1.  To follow Christ’s example.
“At that time, Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.” –Mark 1:9
  2. Because Christ commanded it.
“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” –Matthew 28:19,20
  3. It is evidence of being a believer.
“… Many of the Corinthians who heard him believed and were baptized.” –Acts 18:8
  4. It identifies you with Christ.
“We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands.” –1 John 2:3

The best example we have of baptism was given by Jesus Himself, and it is found in all the examples throughout scripture: by being immersed in water. Every baptism in the Bible was by immersion in water. Even the word “baptize” or “baptizo” literally means “to dip under water.”

“As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water.” –Matthew 3:16

“Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. When they came up out of the water … ” –Acts 8:38-39

If you have never experienced baptism by immersion since you were intentional about placing your faith in Jesus Christ, we would recommend you participate in our next service.  Being baptized again does not devalue or take away from any prior experience, but rather reflects your personal desire to grow spiritually, to be obedient and identified with Christ in a way that scripture gives the best examples.  Every member of Springbrook has been baptized by immersion as Jesus demonstrated and commanded us to follow.

If you are interested in participating in the next baptism service, or if you would like to attend the next baptism class or have questions, let us hear from you!
